Sci-fi blockbuster Avatar goes on sale on Blu-ray in the UK today but Panasonic is offering a free disc to anyone who buys one of its Blu-ray players.
The film, famously in 3D in cinemas is released in a 2D version via Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, which has teamed up with Panasonic for the deal which is expected to last throughout the summer. For non-fans of the dancing with Smurfs epic, other Blu-ray discs are also available, including The Fantastic Mr Fox and Minority Report.
The deal applies to all of Panasonic’s range of 2D Blu-ray players, though not the 3D-ready DMP-BDT300.
The deal is just one of a host of promotions for what is now officially the highest-grossing film of all time with an illuminated installation of the Tree of Souls erected in London’s Hyde Park and HMV’s flagship store in London’s Oxford Street reimagined as the planet Pandora, with staff even taught phrases in Na’vi to use when greeting customers.
