Delayed from February, Sony’s slimmest ever Walkman finally hits the shops this week.
The NWZ-A845 measures just 7.2mm deep and weighs in at 62g but still manages to pack in some up-to-the-minute technology with a 2.8in OLED screen (240×400 pixels), S-Master digital amplifier, BBC iPlayer and iTunes compatibility, 16GB of storage and noise-cancelling headphones.

Importing music, videos, pics and playlists can be done from computer using drag-and-drop transfer or via iTunes 9.0 using the supplied Content Transfer software. A special Scene Scroll function allows you to browse videos as a series of thumbnails and it will play a broad range of formats including rights-managed WMA and WMV files, as well as MP3, AAC, MP4 and JPEG for viewing photos.

Battery life is an estimated 29 hours for audio and nine hours for video and there’s a Battery Care function which is said to improve overall battery lifespan by limiting charging levels to 90 per cent. There’s also a TV output to allow you to play back videos on your telly via an optional AV cable.

The Sony Walkman NWZ-A845 is on sale now for £140.
