Arcam’s irDock is back in a second version with a universal design, a remote handset and performance improvements.
The unit can be used in conjunction with Arcam’s own Solo and AV components for info displays and intelligent integration, or with any Hi-Fi or AV system as a stand-alone dock.
Arcam irDock Arcam’s new version irDock has built-in audio pre-amp with high performance op-amps and low-noise double-regulated power supplies
The new Infra Red remote control can handle all iPods and iPhone including the latest generations) and the passthrough of any video content is made possible with the incorporation of Apple’s video authentication chip. The unit can also be controlled via other Arcam handsets or a universal remote.
Arcam says it has also worked hard on enhanced RF suppression for better sound quality. Arcam also argues that most docks leave the iPod charging all the time, potentially damaging the battery and sound performance, this new version has a charging on/off button, which eliminates both those issues. Sound quality is also given a boost by the dock using the iPod’s line-out connector, by-passing the headphone amp. There are also S-Video and Composite outputs to television or screen to show photos or movies.
