New company GlideTV has launched a new type of remote control – the Navigator.
It’s a palm-sized controller with a touch pad that mixes up the abilities of a keyboard, mouse and AV remote with a media PC set-up and promises to “make it a breeze to access digital content stored on a home theatre PC that’s connected to a TV”.
It includes a clickable touchpad, cursor control, one-thumb scrolling, single and double-click selection and familiar computer-style keys such as Esc, Enter, Back and Function.
The Navigator is designed to make better use of web-based content for TV, and company founder Chris Painter claims: “GlideTV brings simplicity to accessing internet-based entertainment and ushers in a new era for computing in the living room”.
Also included in the package is a charging dock and USB Wi-Fi receiver which can be hooked up to PC, Mac, PS3 or any HD set-top box. It also works with all web browsers and most media players, including Windows Media Center, Apple iTunes and Sage TV.
The Glide TV Navigator is available now for £120
