Sussex-based electronics developer Pinnacle Audio claims to have launched the ‘ultimate’ in digitally stored music technology with the Folio sound server.
The system allows you to store up to 2,000 CDs at 24-bit/96kHz in WAV, lossless FLAC, Ogg Vorbis or MP3 formats. It connects to your home network via Ethernet and allows you to stream your music collection to speaker systems in any room in your house. It’s all controlled by a touchscreen control tablet and automatic software upgrades are provided overnight via the internet.
Unusually, the Folio includes dual hard drives providing extra security for your music collection – if one should fail, you’ll still have a back-up.
Pinnacle Audio co-director Andrew Gatt said: "As consumers become increasingly sophisticated and knowledgeable about digital music storage, their expectations become higher so our main aim when designing The Folio was to create a product that did not compromise quality for quantity or vice versa.”
The Folio is available now direct from Pinnacle Audio in three sizes: 250GB (£2,399), 500GB (£2,499) and 750GB (£2,799).
