Altec Lansings’s latest 2.1 speaker system aimed at desktop computers is the Expressionist Ultra. With 200 watts of power, the company says it’s one of its most powerful computer audio systems ever.
Its boom comes from five digital amplifiers powering five separate drivers – 3in midranges, 1in Neodymium tweeters and a 6.5in long-throw subwoofer. The clear-fronted stereo speakers certainly have a distinctive look and the system promises a dynamic range of 40Hz-20kHz and sound pressure level of a punishing 106dB. It also has table-top controller for volume and tone.
Adrian Bedggood, Altec Lansing’s Consumer Marketing Manager, said: “More people are keeping all of their music and entertainment on their computer so sound quality is very important to them. They want an audio system that sounds great and plays loud without distorting their favourite artist, movie scene or video game and the Expressionist Ultra speaker system fits the bill beautifully.”
The Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra will be on sale in October for £180.
