Latest step in producing screen for every market
Karlslunde, Denmark—December 1, 2007—With dnp’s newest screen, the Supernova Epic, the Supernova series has grown to encompass a family of six high-tech front projection screens—the Supernova One, Core, Infinity, Flex, Mobile and Epic—each one designed to fulfill a variety of different viewer and presenter needs.
The Epic, which comes out in January 2008, is designed to be used in the very finest dedicated home theaters, and provides uncompromised widescreen reproduction of movies in all aspect ratios displaying superior high-contrast images in 100% neutral colour. Maintaining a constant image height as in a movie theater, the Supernova Epic’s motorized masking system is fully adjustable from closed to 2.40:1 settings delivering the ultimate viewing experience.
The Supernova Epic will be available in standard sizes: 96”, 108”, 120”, 132”, 144” and 156”. Also custom orders to match a specific customer need is possible.
Advanced optical technology
Award-winning Supernova Screens use advanced optical technology to enable vivid, high-contrast images in brightly lit environments. Made up of seven layers that actively filter out ambient light, the screen boasts images with up to ten times more contrast and two times the brightness of traditional front projection screens.
Marketed as belonging to three overall screen types—fixed, retractable and portable—the six Supernova Screens are all built using the same advanced screen technology. The differences between each screen in the series fill distinct market niches reflecting the varied uses and growing demand for different types of high-quality front screens.
The fixed category includes both the original screen, the Supernova One, which is popular for corporate use as well as home theatres, the newest member, the Epic, and the Infinity and Core. The Supernova Infinity, which is modular, can be constructed in any desired size, and the Supernova Core is a less expensive, self-assembly version of the screen. In the retractable category there’s the Supernova Flex—the screen retracts into a sleek housing—and the Supernova Mobile in the portable category is, as the name suggests, portable.
“The benefit of the Supernova technology is its capacity for striking, high-contrast images even in bright surroundings. Traditional front projection has always been limited because of the darkened environment needed for quality viewing,” says Jacob Christensen of dnp denmark, the company behind Supernova. “With our newest model we’ve really got a unique screen for each type of user. But of course that doesn’t mean we’ll stop developing new models and innovate further,” he says.
dnp denmark is the world’s leading supplier of optical projection screens for high-quality display solutions. They are the large-screen production centre of Dai Nippon Printing Co. Ltd., one of the world’s largest printing and media companies. Among numerous awards, the Supernova won the 2005 and 2006 Insight Media Best Buzz Award for Best Screen Technology at InfoComm, the professional AV and information communications industry’s largest event. And most recently in September 2007, The Supernova Epic has won the Exc!te Award, presented by the US Custom Retailer magazine and in November 2007, the Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Award, presented by the Consumer Electronics Association (CES).
The Supernova Screen material has been certified by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) for exceeding the benchmarks of quality that define the best in video performance available for consumers.
