ATLANTA, GA, (September 6, 2007) – Digital Projection International (DPI), an Emmy® Award-winning manufacturer of high-performance projection systems, introduced a full line of Reference Series displays, delivering professional performance and providing a true Hollywood entertainment experience for the most extraordinary home venues. Delivering the highest pixel resolution and incredible color-depth, Reference Series projectors are an evolution of the Company’s commercial displays, consistently relied on by post-production houses, prominent film festivals and major theatrical entertainment. Comprised of two new LIGHTNING Reference 1080p models, the HIGHlite Reference 1080p and the new TITAN Reference 1080p, DPI’s Reference Series represents the highest echelon of DLP® projection at four distinct price points.
The smallest of the new Reference Series, the 68 lb. TITAN Reference 1080p delivers up to 6,000 ANSI lumens and 5000:1 contrast through a dual 300-watt lamp system. With seven lens options, including short-throw solutions, the TITAN Reference can be easily integrated into any medium-to-large home cinema. Benefiting from DP’s new ColorMaxTM technology, the TITAN Reference features enhanced 7-point color correction and a xenon color mode that allows the projector to closely replicate the spectral performance of a xenon lamp at a fraction of the operational cost. 7-point colorimetry assures color-critical applications benefit from the broadest color gamut, ultra-precise color calibration and the most stable white point definition available in any display. Low audible noise (less than 42dBA) is maintained through DP’s exclusive CoolTekTM engineering, which features SilentStreamTM – an efficient array of “smart fans” managed by thermal sensors. The SilentStreamTM design efficiently moves fresh, filtered air through the projector, extracting maximum heat from lamps, electronics, DMD’s and other sensitive components. The SilentStream system holds operational fan noise at a level lower than any other projector in the TITAN class.
The HIGHlite Reference 1080p is positioned in the center of the price/performance range of the new Reference Series. The HIGHlite Reference 1080p is one of the world’s lightest and smallest 2K x 1K, 3-chip DLP™ platforms, and strikes an impressive balance of custom light output – from 5,000 up to 14,000 ANSI lumens – and rich contrast with exceptional dark area detail. By using 3 × 1.26” DMD’s, the projector is capable of displaying video at a resolution of 1920 × 1080, or the even higher 2K digital cinema standard of 2048 × 1080. Equipped with liquid cooling – for the quietest operation in its class – the HIGHlite Reference 1080p can be installed in medium-to-very large home cinemas or media environments, for the precisely calibrated display of any video, HD or computer source.
The pinnacle models of DP’s new Reference displays are the powerful LIGHTNING Reference 30 1080p and Reference 40 1080p projectors. Custom light output from 6000 to 14,000 ANSI lumens, while maintaining an amazing 5000:1 contrast, positions the LIGHTNING models as the absolute ultimate in precision imaging tools available today. The LIGHTNING displays incorporate two examples of Digital Projection’s CoolTekTM engineering – the ultra-reliable and long life Hyper-CooledTM xenon lamphouse and efficient DirectFlowTM cooling of DMD’s and prism optics. Maximum source connectivity and accurate image resizing are provided through advanced NextGen electronics, equipped with both Genum and Pixelworks chipsets. Sharing the exact same lens options as the TITAN Reference, the LIGHTNING Reference displays are equally capable of handling installation challenges. Also similar to the TITAN, the LIGHTNING Reference Series boasts DP’s ColorMaxTM calibration technology, enabling simplified setup with precise results.
All of the Reference 1080p series projectors can be equipped with DP’s TheaterScope Premier System. This programmable anamorphic solution supports constant-height screen applications, rendering the most immersive 2.35 viewing experience. The TheaterScope Premier System includes a high quality 1.33 anamorphic lens, a precision engineered motorized lens sled and installation hardware for coupling the system to the projector. When equipped with the TheaterScope Premier, Reference 1080p projectors display 1.77:1, 1.85:1 and cinematic 2.35:1 content at a constant screen height, maximizing on-screen resolution and brightness and eliminating the horizontal black bars normally associated with “letterbox” DVD and HD formats.
