London, August 16, 2006. Following the launch of the multi-award winning REGZA WLT66
series range of HD Ready LCD TVs earlier this year, Toshiba today presents the latest
addition to the REGZA family – the WLT68 series.
Featuring three new models – the 32WLT68, 37WLT68 and 42WLT68 – this stunning range
is one of the first 100Hz HD LCD TVs to market, offering users the very highest picture
quality available. Depth of picture and contrast is enhanced thanks to the active Backlight
Control, and for the ultimate versatility in digital connectivity Toshiba is first to market with no
fewer than three HDMI inputs.
Unbeatable Picture Quality
The WLT68 series sets a new standard in LCD picture quality with Toshiba’s Active Vision
M100 technology. 100Hz creates a smoother motion on screen as the input signal is
scanned 100 times a second unlike standard LCD TVs that scan at 50 times a second. This
cutting-edge technology delivers the best possible viewing experience for fast-moving feeds,
delivering crystal clear images for high octane movies and swift-moving sporting action.
Active Vision M100 also features a unique Backlight Control, which delivers the best
possible picture depth by analysing the required brightness levels of the image and
adjusting the backlight accordingly. This gives a deeper, more satisfying black in required
dark scenes.
For even greater picture clarity, the WLT68 series features an Integrated Signal Amplifier
to boost terrestrial Freeview broadcasts, while full 10-bit Processing improves the signal
noise ratio to further reduce noise levels in digital pictures.
The luminosity of the brightest and the darkest colours on screen are even more distinct
due to the 3500:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
All screen sizes have a 1366 × 768 widescreen providing exceptionally detailed pictures with
optimum brightness and vibrant colours.
The HD Experience
Toshiba has built in three HDMI inputs (2 rear inputs and 1 one side input) – a unique
feature only available with the WLT68 range – and a Component Video input to give users
the best choice and most flexibility when it comes to connectivity. With HD feeds fast
becoming an everyday standard, rather than a luxury, a single HDMI input will more than
likely prove to be insufficient and result in constant switching of leads. The WLT68 enables
users to digitally connect a variety of HDMI products both now and in the future – for
example, any of Toshiba’s forthcoming HD DVD players, an HDMI DVD player, HD set-top
box, camera or games console.
The range is fully HD Ready and therefore compatible with the High Definition TV (HD TV)
broadcasts which started airing this year. There is also an Integrated Digital Tuner for
access to over 30 extra Freeview channels.
Style, Sound and Extras
Every WLT68 TV features the beautiful minimal screen surround that is characteristic of
Toshiba’s REGZA LCD styling. The black sleek gloss finish oozes style without
compromising the screen size.
To maximise the overall home entertainment experience, Toshiba has ensured the sound
quality is as much of a focus as picture quality. Each model has a dedicated output for a
separate subwoofer – the Toshiba SW1000 – as well as an optical audio output.
Another new capability is the Media Window Function, which allows a 50:50 picture and text
to be displayed next to the TV programme. It also allows PC and RF feeds to be displayed
at the same time.
Toshiba will also offer a stand to accompany the range.
