Yamaha MCR-140 and MCR-040

31 août 2009

Yamaha has announced two new portable mini systems with iPod docks, the MCR-040 and the MCR-040.

There’s an iPod dock on top with both models but the MCR-140 will also include a wireless connection dock for the iPod, so you can carry it with you and use it like a remote control for selecting your music.

Both systems will be available in no less than ten colours, including the canary yellow version pictured. The CD player can handle MP3 and WMA files on compact disc and you can play the same file formats via the front-mounted USB port.

The built-in amplifier supplies the twin speakers with 2×15 watts and both models also include Yamaha’s VCCS (Vibration Control Cabinet Structure) technology which reduces the potential vibrations of the speaker cabinets as well as the company’s Advanced YST (Active Servo Technology) which gives good voice to the lower registers at low volume. Both models will feature a frequency response of 50Hz-18kHz with a margin of 10dB.

The Yamaha MCR-140 is expected to be available later this month for around £400. The MCR-040 should follow in November, priced around £270.
