German manufacturer Ultrasone has unveiled its latest high-end headphones, available near you for just £1,199. The reason for the high price tag is largely due to the materials used. The outer ear cups for instance have been finished in Ruthenium, a semi precious metal renowned for its lasting sheen and durability.
The interior ear cups meanwhile are covered with extremely soft Ethiopian sheepskin leather, which Ultrasone claims to be ‘the finest leather available and provides the finest isolation of any leather’. Materials haven’t been skimped on for the technology either, with 40mm titanium-plated bass-tube driver, gold-plated jack plug and MU-Metal shielding designed to reduce magnetic field emissions. And as if that wasn’t enough, they come with a specially designed carry case made from fine-grain Madras goatskin. How do they sound? We’ve no idea, but they should be wonderful to wear.
