SoundMAGIC earbuds launch in UK

7 juillet 2009

Chinese headphone brand SoundMAGIC is to launch in the UK courtesy of HiFi Headphones.

The entry-level PL11 is the first across the line in the race for UK consumers’ hearts and ears. The 9mm neodymium magnet design promises ‘ultra-deep bass frequencies’ which belie the earbuds’ small dimensions. Looking not a million miles different to Beyerdynamic’s DTX100, they feature noise-isolating gromits in three different sizes and come with a shirt-clip, cable wrap and travel pouch. They cost £20.

Next up is the PL30 ‘in-ear’ monitor, a more advanced model with an over-ear cable design which is intended to reduce cable microphonic noise, especially when running. They come with a choice of single and double flange eartips in three different sizes, plus a carry case and cable wrap, all for £30.

And later this year will be the PL50, a 6.4mm balanced armature design of the kind more commonly seen in higher end ‘phones and, erm, hearing aids. HiFi Headphones director Shaun Gostellow said: "We’re really excited about these new headphones from China, they’ll retail for under £50, but they sound more like £150."
