More and more companies seem to be launching new Hi-Fi products and Onkyo are no exception. The A-5VL amplifier and C-S5VL SACD/CD player were first seen in March with both products being launched in August. A new budget Amplifier the A-9377 (£300) is being released this month.
The A-5VL Amplifier (£350) is rated at 2×40 watts, Separate Transformers for L/R Channels and a DAC (digital to analogue) converter using Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-Bit chips.
For the vinyl lovers amongst you the A-5VL even has MM (Moving Magnet) and MC (Moving Coil) phono connections.
Onkyo have not forgotten about the ipod generation with the new DS-A3 dock (£100). The A-5VL is fully compatible with Onkyo’s award-winning range of RI (Remote Interactive) equipped iPod/iPhone docks, both past and current you’ll be able to control your portable device player using the amplifier’s remote.
Onkyo’s new C-S5VL SACD/CD Player (£350) is designed to match the style of the A-5VL. The SACD/CD player is optimised to player both formates and with SACD sound that much better it makes sense to have this on-board.
The C-S5VL SACD/CD Player incorporates VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) along with a high end Wolfson 192kHz/24-bit WM8742 Digital-to-analogue converter, with DSD Bistream support for Super Audio CD playback.
The DAC has a multi-bit, sigma-delta architecture, to optimise the signal to noise ratio, and has been configured to allow owners to pick from five different digital filter settings (for CD) plus four settings for SACD (plus DSD Direct).
The timing errors are kept to a minimum Onkyo has paid particular attention to the clocking mechanism. The crystal oscillators normally employed in such players, for instance, can often be prone to deviation with changes in temperature. The C-S5VL’s is thermally regulated to prevent such variances.
The new budget amplifier A-9377 (£300) is rated at 2×90 watts per channel, has a Massive Power Transformer and has a MM phone board. This amplifier also features Onkyo’s RI (Remote Interactive) system so you can use the remote to control your ipod.
