LG has announced two new big, ultra-slim LCD TVs with built-in wireless connectivity: the 55LH93 and 55LH95.
LG CEO Simon Kang said at the launch in Seoul: “These new models will change the LED LCD TV market landscape and we expect these devices to reinforce the premium image of LCD TVs in general.”
Big talk, but he could have a point. Both 55in models feature no less than 3,360 backlight LEDS – seven times more than the majority of their rivals and deliver a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 240Hz refresh rate. And, they’re only 25mm thin, which is getting pretty close to wafer status.
LG also claims that its enhanced wireless feature eliminates the need for image compression, allowing HD content to be sent from DVD players or game consoles without any degradation, and without the need for an HDMI cable.
LG hasn’t yet specified the exact differences between the models yet, but they’re expected to retail for around £3,300 for the 55LH93 and £3,600 for the 55LH95.
