The ISE in Amsterdam starts tomorrow and Opus are set to launch a host of new products. These include HD video distribution solutions over Cat5 and coax and Opus new control applications using iPhone and iPod touch.
The Opus HDCX103 is a solution designed to distribute HDMI signals using standard coaxial cable. Using just a normal 75 Ohm satellite grade coaxial cable you can distribute 1080p signals in excess of 80m! Most installers want to and do use satellite cable for installation so it’s great news that according to Opus you can now distribute HDMI.
According to Opus ‘BluRay and High Definition TV broadcasts have been the key drivers of the rapid growth in demand for a whole-house HD video distribution and the HDCX103 from Opus transforms the once-impossible quest of achieving such complex distribution of HD content into reality.’
• A simple method of installing high definition video distribution in projects of all sizes with minimal cost add-on
• 75 Ohm satellite grade coaxial cable (CT100, RG6) can distribute 1080p signals in excess of 80m
• Requires no additional cables in retrofit environments – transforms existing coaxial cable into a high definition highway to distribute virtually lossless video and multi-channel audio
• The HDMI-over-Coax is fully HDCP compliant
• Supports 480i, 480p, 576i, 1080i and also 1080p video formats
The company will also introduced at ISE a ingenious custom application enabling the Apple iPhone and iPod touch to control both the Opus system and integrated third party home automation products. Proprietary Opus Hotspot software also allows Apple TV to integrate with the Opus system and be controlled by the WCU600 keypad.
Key features and benefits:
• iPhone and iPod touch enable wireless control of all source equipment and third party control products
connected to the Opus system in any room.
• Intuitive graphics developed for Opus’ WCU600 touchscreen keypad are replicated on iPod touch or iPhone.
Expect more from ISE when the Expo starts tomorrow.
