So far at the show Philips has announced its slimmest-ever TV range, called Essence, which is specifically designed for wall-mounting and according to Philips this is the 40 per cent of consumers now want to install their screens. This is based around Philips’s ’9000 range technology, Essence uses Perfect Pixel HD Engine technology and has a 50000:1 contrast ratio. The 42in Essence will cost 2,500 Euros.

Speaker Manufacture Mordaunt Short has launched a new Alumni 8 range consisting of a LCR spesker and a tower speaker with seven drive units in. The new Alumni 8 speakers, which will sell for £500 a pair and will be out in October, combine the company’s 25mm tweeter with two 9cm Continuous Profile Cone mid/bass units. The output from the CPC units is given extra boost by the use of four Acoustic Bass Radiators, which move in concert with the main drivers.

The £300 Alumni 3 LCR combines left, centre and right channels in a single housing, with separate tweeters and mid/bass units for each channel, and and extra mid/bass unit on the centre channel.
