Sky TV – On Her Majesty’s HD Service

12 décembre 2007

Sky has announced that two of the UK’s most popular Christmas Day TV traditions – the Queen’s Speech and James Bond, will be broadcast in High Definition for the first time this year.

Buckingham Palace has agreed for the Queen’s Message to be broadcast in HD, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty’s annual television message.

Sky will air the Queen’s Message on Sky Movies HD2, Christmas Day at 3pm followed by the UK Premiere of Daniel Craig’s first outing as James Bond – Casino Royale, at 3.10pm, on the same channel.

Sky HD captures every detail, facial expression and movement, offering images that are much more life like with four times the picture detail of standard definition. So diamonds shine brighter, dresses are more colourful, and stunts are even more intense when experienced in HD; the perfect antidote to the excesses of Christmas dinner!

The Queen gave her first Christmas message via radio after she took the throne in 1952. The speeches were broadcast solely on radio initially, before the first TV version was broadcast in 1957.
