Paris Tuning Show 2007 : girls and gear!

2 mars 2007

The Paris Tuning Show was held same time same place this year, at the Bourget Exhibition Center in the outskirts of Paris.

With over 55,000sqm show space, the 8th edition of the PTS housed both indoor and outdoor demos and welcomed an increasing number of exhibitors and visitors. Here’s an opportunity for us to share with you the buzzing atmosphere and new products on the stands.

Alpine : Viva Las Vegas !

The Alpine stand presented a rather unusual vehicle : the Touran Las Vegas by Volkswagen. Equipped with the V-Hub technology, this vehicle shows what kind of improvements can be made on an original manufacturer installation.

The system allows the user to configurate his or her installation to suit his needs via the control panel. Alpine also introduced its IDA-X001 car radio entirely geared around the cherished iPod discarding *Cds in favor of tuner and iPod.

Another star on the stand was the Black Bird portable navigation system by Alpine that we’d already covered at the Paris Motor Show last year.

Blaupunkt : by car, on foot and at home

Tuning Show often rimes with Girls! So Blaupunkt went all the way with three very graceful dancers introducing the new home concept : Velocity 2 Go.

On the road it’s an active subwoofer and on the sidewalk or at home it’s a top quality HiFi system! A unique and original solution. Another innovation by the brand is its first plug and play amplifier. It’ll plug in to your car radio via ISO in no time at all.

As for navigation, the Travel Pilote Lucas 5.2 contains maps of 40 European countries.

Clarion : neo-Design

The ambassador for Clarion is as you may know no one other than Jamiroquai himself! You were welcomed on the stand by the sexy singer via the multiple screens around you introducing the new spirit of the line. Clarion goes for neo-Design this year with a new double DIN car radio DUB278RMP.

Minimalist facade, huge potential dividers and colorful displays are what make up this new model that sports all existing technology behind a somewhat retro design.

Other devices by the brand are now for the most part equipped with the Slidetrak function that allows you to control your car radio at the touch of a finger.

On the navigation side Clarion offers a brand new hard disk system that allows you to discard the DVD player.

Pioneer : a wave of newbies!

Pioneer made a great impression here at the Paris Tuning Show with new ranges of products ranging from car radios, amplifiers, subwoofers through navigation systems. Here’s an example with the new reference in terms of multimedia combo : the AVIC-D3.

The AVIC-D3 is both a highly versatile audio and hard disk navigation system geared around a huge double DIN touch panel.

The iPod Direct DEH-P4900IB & DEH-P6900IB car radios also caught our eye since they’re iPod Full Speed compatible (19800 bps). Another star on the stand is the TS-W307D2 subwoofer that’s simply World Champion SPL!

Visitors also flocked to hte stand to check out the many demo vehicles on show.

Ranging from the Tuning prototypes from Japan to the scooter customized by Pioneer.

Infinity : the reference…

The Reference line by Infinity has been revamped for the better. A whole new range of speakers with adjustable Tweeter and volume as well as new Plus One cones!

We also checked out the new amps sporting Class AB circuitry for perfect sound quality with reduced distortion plus a new amp designed for the Class D Subwoofers.

And we end with the two new Subwoofers that have appeared on the American manufacturer’s brochure. The first one’s equipped with a 30cm subwoofer and the second with two!

JBL : a Professional car!

No need for us to introduce the GTI series by JBL. It rimes with power and irreproachable quality for the greatest pride of the American name.

Today the C508GTI and C608GTI systems are available in a new MKII version. The new shaped aluminum finish and filters have been revamped.

We also had a chance to see the Ford Mustang GT 506 prepared by JBL. Wow!

MTX : Jack in the box !

At the Paris Motor Show last year, Cartel France introduced the humongous Jack Hammer by MTX.
Unfortunately for us the beast was chained up and hadn’t peeped a sound. Well for the 2007 Paris Tuning Show Cartel France had it integrated to a vehicle and we actually got a chance to hear what it had in stake!

For lack of words I’d say it was simply unique in terms of listening experience!

Kenwood : what a comeback!

Kenwood was back with a whole range of very smart products indeed.

Kenwood has kept on innovating in the same vein as ever with an impressive demo of two vehicles entirely equipped by the brand.

Oxygen Audio : choice is yours!

Oxygen Audio had a lot to offer : a devoted and caring nurse and a very special agent from the brand were both out to get you! They took us on a tour of the new products by the brand…First it was the car radio geared around a 2.5in LCD panel then a DivX and Mp3 compatible DVD player at unbelievably reasonable prices! Next we had Class AB and Digital Class amps.

And to finish, a large part of the stand was dedicated to speakers and subwoofers that make up the brand’s name! Oxygen offers all you need for a perfect installation!

Panasonic : 103in ?

Well no, they didn’t dare! We knew Panasonic would be showing off its 103in plasma at the Paris Tuning Show this year. Our team had started fantasizing over a snazzy integration at the back of a Pick-up or inside a limo but nothing like that actually happened…Or did it?!

Anyway no big deal, and Panasonic didn’t turn up empty handed but with a whole new range of iPod compatible car radios extremely well designed to say the least…

As all good things come to an end, this marks the end of the 2007 Paris Tuning Show.
