World premiere this morning at the What Hi-Fi & Stuff Show here in London! LG definitely marked the opening of the show disclosing the their first Blu-ray ever!
The LG stand bustled with thriving energy, making a kick start at the 2006 edition of What Hi-Fi & Stuff. And who could do it better than the Olympic gold medal-winning sprinter, Darren Campbell ? He pulled off the cloth before our eager eyes revaling the LG treasure : the BD100.
And what an amazing feat! LG, living up to expectations as usual, produced a real swanky Blu-ray player that supports an impressive list of file formats. The BD100 is a full 1080p model featuring an HDCP-compliant HDMI port, as well as component, composite and coaxial to round things up nicely! It reads single layer and double layer Blu-ray discs (25 or 50 Go), DVD+R and DVD-R discs, DVD-RAM, and MP3 and WMA audio CDs. Standard is 5.1 audio and digital optical S/PDIF with an upscaler that brings the signal up to 480i, 480p, 720i, 720p and 1080i to 1080p.
The BD100 will be competitively priced and released early 2007 so we were told.
