Another brand takes on DarkChip 3 technology by Texas Instruments.
No doubt the DC3 provides Sim2’s new upmarket projector with suitable technological sophistication. The Domino 80 is an upgrade from the D35 while still carrying the same style. The DC3 provides a 1920 × 1080 native resolution rendering it 1080p compatible. This newly designed chip allows it to reach high-performance levels. The D80 features a *4,000 : 1 contrast ratio but that’s without a second iris packed in to artificially boost figures (it’s now common place to see projectors with ratios above 10,000 : 1).
Besides opting for the suitable chip, Sim2 also put in a 10 Bit color processor to avoid the loss of any color information. Its 7-segment Color Wheel including a neutral density one lessens green noise and the Sim2 Alpha Path provides extra brightness. An RS-232 port updates the projector’s internal programme.
The Domino D80 by Sim2 will soon be available in a high gloss black or white finish at around 11,000€.
