There’s a lot going on in Berlin at IFA 2006. Hall 23’s where you’ll witness the perfect match of two big names in the LCD world : Genoa and Telefunken. This is a big come back for the electronics’ pioneer boasting over 20,000 patents. The first prototypes of the Telefunken LCD TVs are here in Berlin today.
The Telefunken LCDs have integrated Genoa Color Technologies’ Color Peak Multi Primary Color (MPC). These panels could well revolutionize the way colors are displayed on our cherished LCDs. What’ll strike you first is the sober but polished design. By taking a closer look at the beast you’ll begin to understand the magic (and huge amount of work) that lies behind MPC technology. Until now, color display on LCD pannels found on the market was ensured by three colors: red, green and blue. Genoa « simply » added a couple more, typically yellow and cyan. This makes for significantly wider color gamut and increased image quality.
So these red, green, blue, yellow and cyan « pixels » will enable the Telefunken LCD Tvs to display colors that had never been seen on an LCD before… What’s more is you’ll get increased brightness efficiency with no damage to your electricity bill. Indeed, Telefunken presents their new LCD 5 color HD ready Tvs as environmentally sound as far as heat emission and powering are concerned.
Arnaud Desurmont, Senior Vice President says : « We had the ambition to present the best possible image on the Telefunken TVs for our consumers. We were looking for technologies which can enhance the palette of colors and improve image quality beyond what consumers have seen so far. In Genoa’s Multi Primary Color technology we found a solution which achieves excellent coverage of all colors without compromising brightness. The Telefunken brand is very pleased to present this unique, state-of-the-art technology in its LCD TVs ».
