Here’s one for you: what is bigger than a 65 inches LCD? OK…I’ll narrow it down to: what’s the largest LCD you can get nowadays?
Well, according to Samsung, the answer is their latest 70 inches consumer HD LCD panel. Kim Sang-Soo, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics put it out quite clearly: « our new 70 inches LCD is not only significantly larger, but also sets a new benchmark of excellence in terms of video image reproduction, viewing angle and image quality. We’ve designed it to dramatically enhance the large screen LCD TV user’s viewing experience. »
And well, when you take a look at the specs, there’s no doubt about it! The viewing angle is of 180 degrees for multi-viewing audience and the video signal is reproduced at 120 Hz compared to 60 Hz of a conventional Full HD LCD panels. This higher speed lets moving images be reproduced with much higher clarity.
Samsung will begin producing the new 70in LCD during the first half of 2007. Is it to an affordable alternative to the 230 kilo 100in Panasonic LCD?
