Joe Kane talks about the battle of the formats

2 juillet 2006

Joe Kane, calibration expert and creator of Digital Video Essentials calibration tools, was recently in Paris for a professional conference, where we were fortunate to have him talk to us again this time giving his views of the coming of HD to Europe and the implications of the different formats.

In this video clip interview, he underlines that “HD is not plug & play” and requires a certain level of expertise to get it right, otherwise the consumer may not be able to appreciate the real technology advantages HD has to offer.

Listen to some “rather shocking” examples he gave us from his experience in the American market as to the lack of thorough knowledge of these new technologies by general purpose retail store salesmen… some HD Ready TVs are not truly HD ready…

Then he gives us his insight about the coming of HD TV and that the HD DVD format has the potential to be vastly superior to anything broadcasters will provide in the near future. Don’t miss his very provocative things to say about Blu-ray…

Listen to Joe Kane’s opinion on training consumers so they can get the most out of the HD experience
