In the UK, Microsoft has installed kiosks in several high-street stores. You can check through a dealer locator brought to you on the Xbox UK site (click here to access this specific page). The kiosks are equipped with demonstration games such as “Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie” from Ubisoft, Activision’s “Call of Duty 2” or “Kameo: Elements of Power” delivered by Rare. In these kiosks the game boxes are plugged to HDTV screens provided by Samsung.
Microsoft has also organised a “4 cities, 4 events, 360 hours” tour in the UK, starting November 4 in Glasgow, going then to Birmingham, Leeds, and finally in London's Mercer Street Studios just one week before the official date.
December 2 will actually see the launch of two models: the Xbox 360 Core (dubbed “standard” in France) and the Xbox 360 (“premium” abroad). The former comes with the Xbox 360 Controller and a composite AV Cable with SCART adapter. The latter lets you experience a 30 feet range wireless control, Ethernet cable, and it comes with a headset and a 20Gb removable hard drive.
Starting December 2, consumers will be able to download content from the kiosk in order to fine tune their boxes.
