The new Bose link AL8 wireless audio link has been conceived to work with all Bose’s DVD-based Lifestyle home entertainment system. It consists of a package comprising an AL8 transmitter and an AR1 receiver. It operates wirelessly by radio frequency and can be set-up within minutes.
Connect the AL8 transmitter to the main room Lifestyle Media Center, and then simply plug in to a standard wall outlet. In every other room, make another single connection between the AR1 receiver to a Lifestyle stereo amplifier with Bose speakers (or any powered speaker systems that are Bose link enabled), and again simply plug the AR1 receiver into a standard wall outlet. Simple, and efficient.
Once plugged in, the AL8 and each AR1 automatically establish a wireless link, and start digital audio and control commands transmission/reception through the wireless link. Internal sources, such as the uMusic intelligent playback system that can digitally be stored on a Lifestyle system, CDs, AM/FM, are compatible with the AL8 system, as well as external audio sources (TV, VCR or cable/satellite devices) that are connected to the media center.
A dual stream transmission allows users to select concurrently from two different audio sources: One can watch a movie using the Lifestyle 38 or 48 systems in the primary room, and at the same time speakers play the system's stored music collection or AM/FM radio in another room. Through the AL8 system, up to eight different rooms can be used wirelessly to expand a single Lifestyle system wirelessly. The system requires no additional software or computer-based operation.
All Bose link enabled speaker systems are compatible with the AL8 wireless audio link, including the new Lifestyle RoomMate powered speaker system, the 3-2-1 and 3-2-1 GS Series II DVD home entertainment systems, the Wave music system and the Lifestyle stereo amplifiers connected to Bose speakers.
Prices are appealing: in the US the AL8 system is priced at $399; and every additional AR1 receivers at $149.
