Chakra –Sanskrit for wheel- refers to the flows of energy that is regulated in our system. It carries some sense of harmony and balance. Linn’s new series comprises eight models ranging from stereo to multi-channel. Linn has developed a simple, energy friendlier system with its controlled silent power; it uses fewer components and produces less heat.
SMPS, or Switch Mode Power Supply brings more isolation and delivers low noise and stable power, while the AKTIV crossover card allows configuration with the company’s loudspeakers.
All Chakra models receive balance XLR connectors or RCA phono, 4 mm loudspeaker poles with 4 mm banana plugs, 6 or 8 mm spades.
Linn’s approach consists in combining the merits of both Monolithic and Bipolar designs: Under a few amps all the power output is delivered by the monolithic, whereas at higher levels bi-polars deliver most output, allowing monolithic to work within its capacity.
The underlying philosophy is simplicity, reliability, and efficiency.
The new series is due in Summer 2005 at Linn’s usual retailer networks.
