The Future is Now !
As one of the major attractions of the CES 2004, ONKYO innovates again in the select high-end segment of the Home Theater market by launching the TX-NR1000 THX Ultra2 Network AV receiver that will certainly be the focal point for many conversations in the months to come.
The TX-NR1000 is an XXL format packed with technology that will place it at the very top of its class. THX Ultra2 certified, it offers 150 watts of power for each of the seven channels driving 8-ohm speakers. All the amplifier channels use Onkyo's exclusive WRAT Wide Range Amplifier Technology to provide the 5 Hz to 100-kHz bandwidth. It has all the current THX, Dolby, and DTS processing modes ; THX Surround EX 7.1, Dolby Digital EX & DTS et DTS-ES, DTS Neo:6, DTS 96/24, as well as Dolby Pro Logic IIx. In addition, as we have come to expect from ONKYO, it uses premium parts throughout, including state-of-the-art Wolfson 192 kHz/24-bit D/A converters for all channels, and is compatible with DVD-Audio and SACD.
This receiver with the ONKYO Net-Tune(TM) client processor can be connected to a personal computer network (TCP/IP) via a rear-panel Ethernet port to access MP3 and WMA digital music files stored on a networked PC or to play Internet radio through a broadband connection.
And that's not all, as this can be just the beginning of what will become a long "love affair" with this model, as Onkyo has built this "monster" with the future in mind, using an architecture based on the "computer industry" strategy of replaceable modules and upgradeable software. As new enhancements become available, the happy owners will be able to upgrade and even customize hardware and software to avoid obsolescence.
Available in Japan starting next April, and then in Europe, the indicated price will be $ 4000.
