The DVD/DivX Player

After a few weeks’ wait, here, finally is the first DVD player capable of playing DivX.
After having announced the upcoming commercialisation of a DVD player with DivX compatibility, Kiss Technology have now officially announced the production of the unit, launching the very first living room DVD player including a EM8500 chip from SigmaDesigns: the DP450.

Very few modifications have been made to the unit we originally announced. This machine, dedicated to fans of video downloading on the net, will be capable of playing DivX burned onto either CD’s or DVD’s.

In parallel, the Kiss Technology DP450 doesn’t only content itself to reading commercial DVD’s, being compatible with the greater part of standards available at the moment:
- MP3, WMA and CD-Audio (CD-R/CD-RW) files,
- Mpeg4, JPEG and SVCD Video files.

In addition, the first player disposes of quite a few benefits, including:
- A Progressive Scan analogue video output,
- Compatibility with Digital streams in Dolby Digital and DTS.

Finally, getting a deal is simple… via pre-order (until 12th November) through Clust.com for a price of 399 Euros.
