A different colour for each disc!
From the lads at Pioneer, the recordable DVD market has some bright news. Pioneer are marketing two ranges (DVD-R and DVD-RW), presented to the client in a box with five discs, all of different colours.
The DVS-RWP47BCM5 and DVS-RP47ACM5 are crystal boxes containing five discs - DVD-R for one, and DVD-RW for the other. Each disc has a capacity of 4.7 GB for 120 min’s recording. The only difference that appears to characterise this new generation of discs is, in fact, the colours.
It appears that the main reason for the existence of these products is purely commercial… The sale of these DVD’s allows Pioneer to once again democratise the niche market, which they feel has been a little slow in taking off. The brand launched, some months ago, their second DVD-R/DVD-RW recorder, the DVR-3000.
These two packs should soon be available in Europe, and auger well for a reduction in the price of DVD-R/DVD-RW, thus attracting a new clientele.
