Plasmas and Projectors Made in China

In this holiday period, we’ve been seeing a plethora of news releases, among them for this first paper, the launch by Sanyo of large scale production of Plasma screens and Video Projectors. The firm says it wants in fact to take advantage of the “Chinese Wave” – to surf on its success.
Sanyo Electric made the announcement in Tokyo.
The company plans to produce a thousand PDP (Plasma Display Panel) TV’s per month. A spokesman for the company added that in case of strong demand, the production could be augmented.
Japan’s third largest consumer electronic company, which launched into the Japanese plasma TV market last July, hopes, thanks to the internationalisation of their production, to reach a turnover of around 42-million dollars in their 2002/2003 financial year, expanding to more than 120-million the following year.
Plasma technology is considered for the moment to be the most promising for large flat screens.
