The New Range

Some new stuff from the boys at Denon who, for this New Year, unveiled during the CES the machines that will be first introduced into Europe at the Mondial Image Photo Son in March. In the meantime, we propose you a first glimpse of what you’ll be seeing in the future Denon catalogue.

Let’s start with what I’d call the "locomotive" of the brand, because Denon have unveiled the second version of their AVCA-1SE.

This variation of the precedent, and highly evolved at that, includes THX Ultra 2, Dolby Headphone, AAC, and DP 2 and also benefits from the different variations of DTS missing on the table. Set to be given the reference AVR-5803 in the US, we ask ourselves whether it will take on the denomination AVCA-2SE in Europe.

Then there’s the replacement of the DVD 2800. While this machine continues to meet with a lot of success on the European market, the Japanese manufacturers have unveiled the DVD 3800.

This new machine, with ultra-complete characteristics, is compatible with DVD Audio (24/192 kHz converters…) and DVD Video. We also note the presence of AL24 progressive scan oversampling filters and a new generation video processor developed by Silicon Image, HDCD and MP3 Player, enough to quell the whinges of anyone who might have thought the DVD 2800 was incomplete.

Still in the realms of DVD, I call upon the DVD 9000. This big machine is there to be the "guiding light" of the DVD Audio and Video catalogue of the brand. The engineers from Denon yet again worked marvels with this one, because they are proposing for sale an ultra top-line player that served to develop, for the most part, the model we were just speaking about previously.

The DVD 9000 thus benefits from virtually the same specifications as the DVD 3800 (eds.: or it’s perhaps more so the other way around!), with the main difference being the THX Ultra certification which allows the machine to be placed in the same rank as the Onkyo DV 939. These two players will be available around the month of April.
