GFK – the Dutch Report

The Explosion of the DVD Market

According to a study undertaken on the entire Dutch market, the sales of DVD players are skyrocketing. According to the latest figures (from the source GFK), in the first quarter of 2001, unit sales have increased by 162% compared to the previous year to exceed 30,000 units sold.

The reasons for this exponential growth are firstly the increase in the amount of software on offer, which until now had been offered very sparingly, along with the relative reduction in unit prices across the board.
Effectively, since January/February 2000, the prices have gone from an average of 1146 florins to the current mean price of 910 florins.
To resume, the turnover growth for the period is around 108% and amounts to more than 27 million florins.

Another confirmation of the ongoing powerful growth in the audio-video sector…
