New DVD Player

Riding on a wave of success, the Japanese manufacturer Onkyo continue to propose a growing range for the Home Cinema market.
Following on the heels of the launch of their new integrated range (see news 11th April 2001), that we’ll soon have the pleasure of discovering, on the shelves of all good specialists, the spanking new DV-S555 DVD Player.

Technical Characteristics :

- Plays DVD, MP3, CD-audio/video, CD-R and CD-RW
- Compatible with streams encoded in DTS, Dolby Digital and PCM.
- Utilisation of a new Digital / Analogue conversion stage calibrated for audio at 192 kHz/24 bits and video at 27 MHz/10 Bits.
- Complete separation of audio and video stages, this latest machine includes, in addition, a series of “audiophile” electronic components. The whole kit and caboodle is snuggled into a new ultra-light anti-vibration chassis.
- Compatibility with PAL and NTSC video signals.

Released for the first time onto the Japanese market, the DV-S555 has a very complete interface for the US and Japanese models:
- 1 composite video output, doubled in s-video
- 1 YUV output
- 2 digital inputs (coaxial and optical)
- 1 analogue input

Furthermore, for the moment, Onkyo have not published a list price. While the machine will be on the shelves in Japan in July 2001, we’re looking at the month of September for a European release for the DV-S555.
