For the Audiophile
Accuphase are offering two new products susceptible to leave more than one fanatic pale... the Transport DP 100 and the DAC DC 101.
The Transport DP 100
With the Transport DP 100, the brand augments its top-line range, proposing a Transport CD (transport signifying that no converter is integrated in the machine, thus implying the utilisation of an external converter). This player is capable of transporting the audio flow from CD or SACD audio formats, being in fact the first machine to be able to detect this type of high quality signal.
Despite the integration of these outsized characteristics, the DP 100 is a transport CD capable of re-transcribing the 16 bit 44.1 kHz audio flow contained in classic audio CD's, thanks to the integration of two lenses specially reserved specifically for the playing of CD audio and SACD supports.
The DAC DC 101 Converter
A Digital-Analogue and Analogue-Digital converter has been developed complementary to the Transport: the DAC DV 101. It has integrated electronics capable of processing most audio flows. Indeed, it can generate the PCM audio signal from audio CD’s and DVD’s respectively sampled at 16 bits under 44.1 kHz and 24 under 96 kHz, as well as 24 bit 192 kHz flows from DVD audio… but more interestingly, also 1 bit under 2.8224 MHz utilised by SACD’s.
A complete interface integrating the HS Link is utilised to link the DP 100 (the HS-link supports an information transfer capacity of up to 400 Mb/second). Digital coaxial and optic links are also dedicated to input/output digital transfers.
The race for top quality Hi-Fidelity sound formats is thus under way, and at the time of writing, we couldn’t help but think of the massive resources that must be being poured by the manufacturers into the development of products integrating such precise electronics.
Meanwhile, it’s important to underline the fact that one must spend the respective trifle sums of 15,700 Euros and 18,000 Euros (103,000 and 118,000 francs) to acquire the Transport DP 100 and the DAC DC 101.
