Collapse in the Value of THX SELECT?

6,990 francs (approx. 1065 Euros): that’s the ultra-competitive price proposed by the Parisian store MAGMA for the purchase of a ONKYO TX-DS777 integrated amplifier: a THX SELECT "monster" for the price of a "vulgar" mid-range integrated unit !

A little reminder that this unit was proposed at the beginning of its commercialisation (a little under a year ago) at a price of 11,990 francs (1828 Euros). We thus find a reduction of some 5,000 francs (762 Euros) for a very worthy machine:

- Dolby Pro-Logic & Digital, DTS, MPEG-2 Multi-channel Decoding

- Material upgradeable to 5.1

- THX SELECT treatment

- 5 X 100 Watts under 8 Ohms wide-band amplification (WRAT technology)

- N/A 24 bit/96 Khz converters

- Programmable remote control with micro-commands

Those living out of the city can be reassured. It is quite possible to order via internet on the www.magma.fr site. Don’t hang around though! At this price they probably won’t last too long!
It just goes to show that something good is coming out of this technological chariot race between the manufacturers. It looks like the upcoming release of the TX-DS787 might have something to do with it (see news of 9th October).
