Dr. Ray Dolby founded Dolby Laboratories during 1965 in London with a staff of four and went on to build an environment where scientists and engineers could push their abilities to the limits to achieve the excellence in sound. The work of this pioneer man in technologies will continue to inspire the imagination of the entertainment industry and communications innovation as his legacy will always live among us.
In the almost fifty years since the founding of the company, tens of thousands of movies and billions of products and devices worldwide have been equipped with their technology, regardless of whether it is home cinemas or cinema theaters or on our own TV. The industry has awarded Dolby Laboratories with 10 Academy Awards and 13 Emmy Awards for its ground-breaking achievements throughout the years.
