Stealth Acoustics, the invisible speakers brand, has announced the next generation of its best-selling amplifier, the 255R.

Stealth Acoustics 255R

Stealth Acoustics 255R subwoofer amplifier

Having built a reputation for category-leading sound quality and ease of installation, Stealth’s 255R is an integrated monaural subwoofer amplifier/crossover system designed as a low distortion power source for Stealth Acoustics’ wall or ceiling mounted invisible subwoofer panels or other un-powered subwoofer speakers. Intended for whole house audio or home cinema bass applications, the 255R can stack with other components or mount in a standard 19in equipment rack requiring only two RU spaces. Removable rack mount ears are provided.

Stealth has made a few alterations to the existing 255R. The blue LEDs and meter ladder have been made less bright (for in-view component stacking) and the 2U form factor has been tightened to make close-pack rack mounting easier. Other features remain the same, such as the variable low pass filter and the phase switch. Stealth has also retained the 255R’s high-current output abilities and flexible IO connectivity.

Sporting 350 watts of analogue-driven, high-current power at 4 ohms, the 255R filter bypass switch allows high-current full-range operation (250 watts at 8 ohms). Balanced XLR, unbalanced RCA and speaker-level inputs (all with matching pass-through output connectors) should make it easy to integrate into almost any system.

No word yet on price, but the new Stealth Acoustics 255R will be at the ISE 2013 on Stand R116 in Hall 5 of the RAI Amsterdam, from 29-31 January.
