This new eco-friendly FM radio is powered not by batteries, not by the mains, but by your shower.
H2O radio H2O radio
The H2O radio claims to be the first of its kind – a radio powered solely by water pressure.
It relies on a new, patented micro turbine which allows it to be plumbed into your shower and powered by energy which is naturally generated by the flow of water while the shower is running. The power created is enough to recharge the built-in Ni-Mh battery.
The H2O comes on automatically when you switch your shower on, and will start playing the last station you listened to. You can keep listening when the shower is off, using energy stored in the rechargeable battery.
It has an FM receipt range of 87.5-108MHz, a 15uV sensitivity, and audio output is claimed to be more than 80mW.
The brand first gained exposure via TV’s Dragon’s Den, when Vivien Blick, managing director of H2O owner Tango Group, presented a wind-up radio with similar technology.
The H2O radio is available now for £35.
