But unlike any other phone available outside of the far east, it has a 4.3in glasses-free stereoscopic WVGA display which can be used to view 3D videos and play 3D games, of which there are intended to be at least three at launch.

It’s not only intended for watching 3D, but also creating it, and has dual 5 megapixel cameras allowing you to make your own 3D videos and upload them directly to YouTube. The 3D videos are captured in 720p HD, while standard 2D videos can go up to 1080p full HD resolution.

Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said: “I’m confident that this year LG will emerge as a leader in the next generation of smartphone and tablet devices. What you see here today is just the beginning. We will continue to innovate with products that address consumer needs and deliver benefits that live up to our ‘Life’s Good’ commitment.”

The LG Optimus 3D is expected to be available on all the UK’s major networks when it launches in the spring.
