Optoma showed off its new ‘affordable 3D projector at the ISE show in Amsterdam.

The GT720 is a ‘3D ready’ DLP projector with a short-throw lens and a price of just £600.
Aimed primarily at the gaming market, it weighs just 2.3g, has a contrast ratio of 3000:1, 2500 lumens and resolution up to 720p.
It’s not quite ready to project 3D images straight out of the box however. You’ll need to spend another £250 or so for the 3D XL, which converts the signal from a 3D source such as Blu-ray player, PS3 or Sky into the ‘frame-sequential’ standard that projectors need.
The 3D XL box does however come with a pair of active-shutter 3D glasses, though additional pairs cost £99 each.
