AV distribution specialist CYP has announced its new 1-8 HDMI to single CAT6 splitter, the PU-Q1H8CS.

It includes 8x CAT6 outputs and is designed to be used with the receiver part of the CYP PU-107RX CAT6 to HDMI Receiver to distribute HDMI over distances of up to 40m at 1080p/8 bit.
The company says that installers only need to connect it to an HDMI Receiver on each end of the eight CAT6 outputs to convert the signal back from CAT6 to HDMI for presenting to each TV in the system.
The idea is that the system retains a pure HDMI signal to send down the CAT6 network. CYP claims that the digital point-to-point signal is cleaner and stronger than the usual method of down-scaling conversion at the transmitter end, then sending an analogue signal which needs to be upscaled and converted back to digital at the receiver end.
The system can be used to transmit AV content over long distances and is claimed to be more cost-effective than using only HDMI cable. Both of the PU-Q1H8CS and PU-107RX are 3D ready too.
The PU-Q1H8CS is v1.3 HDMI, HDCP 1.1 and DVI 1.0 compliant and supports resolutions PC – VGA to WUXGA, 480i to 1080p and 1080p24fps. High definition audio CODECS are also supported including Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD Master Audio and LPCM. The PU-Q1H8CS also has selectable EDID settings – TV (downstream) or STD (fixed) and 12 bit or 8 bit Deep Colour compatibility. The PU-107RX Receiver box supports all the same standards and CODECS as well as being CEC bypass compliant.
The PU-Q1H8CS is available now for around £350.
