CES 2011: Pure Contour connected music system

6 janvier 2011

Digital radio specialist Pure’s latest is the Contour, a sleek looking DAB/FM/ internet radio, media streamer and iPod dock.

LG HX996TS Pure Contour

Bearing more than a passing resemblance to Meridian’s high-end M80, the crescent-shaped Contour includes a retractable iPod/iPhone dock and PURE’s Clearsound technology, which promises clear dynamic audio, higher volume levels and low power consumption.

It has an acoustically tuned and sealed cabinet with dual bass ports and a dynamic range that stretches from 18KHz down to below 50Hz.

There are video outputs too (component, S-Video and composite) so you can watch YouTube clips and stored videos on your TV.

The Contour’s Wi-Fi connection allows you to stream your digital music collection wirelessly from a computer or media server as well as deliver thousands of internet radio stations and on demand programmes from around the world.

Also available via Pure’s online portal, The Lounge (www.thelounge.com) is Pure’s ambient sound selection (birdsong etc) and the FlowSongs service, which allows you to identify tracks on the radio and buy them directly.

It has “Made for iPod” and “Made for iPhone” certification and a remote control, as well as a 3.5mm auxiliary input for other MP3 players, 3.5mm stereo headphone output, USB connector for software upgrades or optional Ethernet adaptor.

The Pure Contour will be available soon for £200.
