Art Vinyl Top 50

5 janvier 2011

Flip Frame manufacturer Art Vinyl has announced its Top 50 awards for vinyl record covers in 2010.

Art Vinyl Top 50 The Klaxons – Surfing The Void, Caribou – Swim, Pablo Cahn/Cesar Merveille’s – Split EP

Top of the 12in pops in the users’ poll was the Klaxons’ Surfing The Void, featuring a portrait of a cat in a space suit which was designed by Richard Robinson and Gareth Pritchard.

Votes didn’t necessarily depend on actual album sales. Second and third places went to fairly obscure titles with the multi-coloured maze of electronica whizz Caribou’s Swim and the stylised flower of dance act Pablo Cahn/Cesar Merveille’s Split EP.

Other highlights jostling for position in the top ten include Goldfrapp’s face and clouds melange for Headfirst, Arcade Fire’s painted car for The Suburbs and Robert Mapplethorpe’s portrait of a ballet dancer’s bum which was which graced the cover of Scissor Sisters’ Night Work.

Art Vinyl makes plastic frames that allow you to use your 12in record covers as wall art. The frames open easily to give you quick access to your records.
