UK design colossus Sir Terence Conran has created a new brand with Conran Audio, and its first product is the Conran Speaker Dock for iPods and iPhones.

A creation of Studio Conran, the new dock combines a minimalist design aesthetic with high quality audio engineered by Q Acoustics.
Sir Terence Conran said: "It is a dedicated 100 per cent pure music player that works with docked iPhones and iPods or wirelessly with devices such as the iPad, allowing you to select songs from the comfort of an armchair or, if it’s your thing, while dancing around the room. We hope we have created a contemporary design classic.”
As well as docking physically with iPods and iPhones, the new dock can also play ‘wireless audio’ streamed remotely from Bluetooth Stereo (A2DP) enabled portable media players, tablet computers, smartphones and laptops. Its built-in Bluetooth receiver chip is compatible with ‘apt-X’, which transmits CD-quality full-bandwidth stereo over Bluetooth connections.
The dock has two 75mm bass/mid drivers plus a pair of 30mm tweeters and can deliver a total of 30 watts of power.
The dock assembly rotates, so iPhones and iPod Touches can be viewed in landscape mode while taking advantage of the Speaker Dock’s audio abilities. It also has six preset equaliser settings and comes with a remote control.
The new Speaker Dock will be available in white or black finishes in late January 2011 for £250.
