The latest from Onkyo’s seemingly never-ending range of products is the CBX-600UKD all-in-one audio system with dedicated iPod dock.
Measuring 202mm deep and 193mm high, the mains-powered CBX-600UKD also includes a CD player and a FM/DAB+ tuner. The hidden iPod dock slides out at the push of a button and promises exceptional sound with digital direct technology derived from Onkyo’s award-winning ND-S1 Digital Media Transport.
The slot-loading CD player is mounted in the top panel with a dust-proof cover and the DAB+ and FM radio tuners have 30 presets between them. There’s also a four-timer mode that allows the system to operate as an alarm clock with a choice of noise sources.
Inside there are two full-range 8cm OMF (Onkyo Micro Fibre) speaker drivers, contained within wholly separated cabinets, to keep left/right channel audio output distinct and clear. Each speaker is also powered from a physically separate power amplifier for improved sound quality.
There are separate tone controls for bass and treble controls, adjustable in 11 steps for fine-tuning the sound and there’s a three-step Super Bass control to complement Onkyo’s Aero Acoustic port design.
The Onkyo CBX-600UKD will be available in black or white from October for £350.
