LG has launched a new Blu-ray 5.1 surround sound system in the shape of the HB965TZ.

The mid to low end system has been tuned by audiophile Mark Levinson and features four slim floorstanding speakers, a super slim centre channel and a subwoofer offering a total of 1,100 watts.

The player is a 2.0 model so it can be connected to the internet for BD-Live material and to view content through LG’s own NetCast portal, including YouTube. It’s also DNLA (Digital Living Network Alliance) certificated so it can connect to a home network to access video, pictures or audio on home computers or hard drives. It also has the option to connect directly to an external hard drive via USB cable for playback of HD-quality DivX or MKV movie files.

There are two HDMI inputs and it comes with seven equaliser presets in the LG Sound Gallery including Natural Plus, Game Equaliser, Night Mode, Clear Voice, Bass Blast, MP3 Upscaling and VSM Plus.

Stephen Gater, Head of Marketing, Home Entertainment, LG UK, said: “LG’s HB965TZ home cinema looks are designed to blend in and its features are designed to stand out. Its possibilities are limitless with the ability to wirelessly connect to content on the internet or on a home network. It also has an integrated iDock for playing and charging your iPod or iPhone for even easier access to your complete digital library.”

The LG HB965TZ is available now for £700.
