Monster's charity headphones

27 mai 2010

High profile brands Monster, Beats by Dr Dre, Lady Gaga and (Product) RED are putting their collective weight behind a project to help combat Aids in Africa.

Their chosen weapon is a special edition set of headphones dubbed the Monster RED Solo HD. A donation of $5 from each pair sold will go directly to the Global Fund to support Aids programs in Africa.

The distinctively styled headphones feature include the ControlTalk integrated microphone and answer button system for taking phone calls and accessing music on an iPhone. They’re also very, very red.

Beats by Dr Dre and Lady Gaga already have their own branded headphones made by Monster but this is the first collaboration with the charity-based group. Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, said: “We’re honoured to have the opportunity for Beats by Dr Dre to join Lady Gaga with Bono and (Product) RED in its efforts in fighting Aids in Africa.”

Susan Smith Ellis, CEO of (RED), added: “Music is part of RED’s DNA. We were co-founded by Bono, we sponsor RED Nights concerts and partnering with Beats by Dr Dre builds on this and gives music fans a way to help reverse the epidemic of Aids in Africa by listening to the music they love.”

The Monster RED Solo HD is available now in the UK now for £170.
