6 mai 2010

US-based high-end stalwart Mark Levinson has released a new preamp/power amp combination with the No. 326S and No. 532.

The No. 326S preamp has seven configurable inputs, three of which are balanced XLRs and four are standard phonos as well as a bypass function for home cinema integration.

There’s onboard filtering to deal with any potential mains noise issues and as you’d expect at this level both audio and control circuits have their own distinct power supplies separated by a steel shielding box.

Mark Levinson claims the No. 532 power amp, which weighs in at a back-breaking 55.2kg, is the best dual-mono amplifier the company has ever built. It actually features two 400-watt mono power amps in the same box, with power supply and control circuitry again kept apart, with the transformers at the front of the chassis, well away from the audio circuits.

The Mark Levinson No. 326S and No. 532 are available now for £8,000 and £17,000 respectively, and are distributed in the UK by CSE.
