British TV Company LINSAR has launched what it claims is the UK’s ‘first affordable’ T2 Freeview HD set top box – the FHD1.
At £149 it’s actually only £30 shy of the suggested price of Humax’s HD-Fox machine and offers subscription-free access to HD channels including BBC HD, ITV HD, S4C HD and the soon-come Channel 4 and 5 HD, as well as over 50 standard definition digital TV channels.
It can upscale to full 1080p HD with associated high quality Dolby Digital Plus sound, and includes both Scart and RF aerial inputs, while outputs include HDMI, Scart, digital optical and an RF loop. There’s also an Ethernet port for future software upgrades and a USB port to playback of photos, videos and MP3 audio files. HDMI, Scart and coax cables are included in the box along with a remote control and naturally, it comes with a seven-day EPG.
LINSAR’s Managing Director, Barry Kick quotes… “Following on from our highly successful LDT range of Freeview set-top boxes, we believe our new FHD1 is only the second Freeview HD box to enter the UK market and proves the LINSAR brand is capable of leading the market with high quality products at value for money prices.”
The LINSAR FHD1 is available now for £149.
