Panasonic has announced four new compact stereo systems, the SC-HC40, SC-HC30, SC-HC20 and SC-HC10.

The HC10 is a CD player, but the other three will play CDs, iPods and iPhones and the HC40 and HC10 will also play music files via a USB connection.

The remote can be used to control an iPod or iPhone inserted in the dock and any music stored on them can be used as part of the integrated wake-up timer. There’s also an AM/FM tuner on board each device.

The HC40 includes Bluetooth so you can connect it wirelessly to your phone to play music or take a call using the onboard mic and speakers.

Both the SC-HC40 and HC30 use Panasonic’s own bamboo cone speakers which the company claims offers an exceptionally responsive sound thanks to the rigidity of the material and a dual passive radiator to help cancel any unwanted vibration and help the slimline speakers achieve an impressive level of full-bodied bass.

The SC-HC40 also features a double magnet circuit with a copper short ring – the double magnet delivers higher sound pressure while the copper short ring reduces the influence of the magnetic field which could interfere with the movement of the speaker diaphragm.

All models are available now, the HC40 is £250, the HC30 £200, the HC20 £150 and the HC10 £100.
